How to stop pet hair from taking over your home.

By Fur & Folk
You clean the house, sit down for a moment, and stand up with pet hair on your clothes again. Meanwhile, your cat has reclaimed the armchair and your dog is making himself comfortable on the freshly washed throw.
It’s frustrating when keeping your home tidy feels like a job that never quite stays done.
A more manageable routine starts with the places your pets use most, a practical way to collect the hair, and a few habits that are easy to repeat.
Start where your pet spends the most time
Your pet probably has a few favourite spots: a particular sofa cushion, the end of your bed, or the armchair that gets the afternoon sun.
Give those places regular attention alongside your floors. Hair left on a cushion can transfer straight onto your clothes the next time you sit down.
Start with the fabric your pet lies on, then check cushion seams and the surrounding area. This gives you a useful place to focus when you only have time for a quick tidy.

Make furniture touch-ups easier with The Fur Reset
For those everyday clean-ups, we recommend keeping The Fur Reset close to hand.

It’s our reusable, manual pet hair remover, designed to collect hair from suitable sofas, bedding, cushions and pet beds. You roll it back and forth over the fabric, and the hair gathers inside a built-in collection box. Open the lid to remove the collected hair, then it’s ready to use again.
Here’s how that helps with the routine:
- Tidy the spot you’re about to use. Give your pet’s favourite cushion attention before you sit down, or clear the chairs before guests arrive.
- Keep using the same tool. There are no disposable adhesive sheets to peel away and no sticky refills to replace.
- Collect the hair in one place. The built-in box holds the gathered hair until you open it to empty it.
Its role is the smaller clean-up between your regular vacuuming and washing: the sofa after an afternoon nap, the cushion before movie night, or suitable bedding when fur starts collecting.
Keep the cleaning underside flat against the fabric and use short back-and-forth strokes. Check the product guidance and your furnishing’s care instructions to make sure the surface is suitable.
Watch the rolling motion and the box being opened in our demonstration above. It shows how the tool is used and where the gathered hair ends up.

Make the rest of your routine work together
A few complementary habits can help you stay on top of the hair elsewhere in your home.
Brush regularly with a suitable grooming tool. Gentle brushing collects loose fur from your pet’s coat before it ends up around the house. Choose a brush and routine suited to their coat; your groomer or vet can help if you’re unsure. Keep sessions comfortable and clear away the loose fur afterwards.
Make their bedding easy to wash. A washable throw on a favourite resting spot gives you a removable layer to clean. Lift off loose hair before washing, follow the care label and dry it fully before putting it back. Keeping a spare lets you swap one into the wash without leaving the spot uncovered.
Finish with the floors. Clean furniture and soft furnishings first, then vacuum the floor to collect anything that falls. Include the edges of the room and underneath furniture, using the appropriate attachment for each surface.
Keep the everyday clean-up small
Pick a moment that already fits your day, such as straightening the living room before settling down for the evening.
Check the cushion your pet has been sleeping on, collect the hair and empty your roller. Leave the larger jobs, such as moving furniture and washing covers, for your regular cleaning session.
Keeping The Fur Reset somewhere convenient makes it easier to deal with that one furry cushion when you notice it.
Your pets will keep enjoying their favourite spots. With a manageable routine, you can enjoy sharing them too.
Less fur. More enjoying your home.
You don’t need a spotless house to enjoy sharing it with your pets. Keeping on top of their favourite resting spots can make the everyday clean-up feel more manageable.
Keep The Fur Reset handy for quick touch-ups on suitable sofas, cushions and bedding. Roll back and forth, empty the collected hair, and reuse it—without replacing sticky sheets.
